Farmer Suicides in India – Visualization Part II

Last time we showed you a static version of the trends of farmer suicides in India. This time around we present to you a motion timeline of the farmer suicide. The data here is from 2001 to 2008 and captures the suicide rate in the states with the highest number of farmer mortality.

While the above table is on absolute numbers, here is how the suicide percentage moved for these states.

You may play around with the data as much. We would love your comments on this experiment with Google Fusion Tables
In the next edition, thanks to some direction provided by @S_Sivakumar, we will try and explore the reasons behind such a dismal trend

    Hi Guys,

Nice work and good attempt to use motion charts.
But I guess the full utility of a motion chart is not used here if both the x and the y axes are the same dimensions. (Farmer Pop in the 1st chart) .For a more compelling analysis, there must be a different dimension on the y-axis, may be something like ‘Total farmer debts in Rupees’ (might be difficult to find the source of data though). That would reveal the power of a motion chart and link the story of deaths Vs debts.

Hey, can you tell me the source of your data? I just want to see if I can get more recent data to update?
